So I'm reseaching web hosts because i want to make a portfolio site and learn how to do joomla, drupal, blah blah blah.
Thus far http://www.justhost.com/ seems pretty straight forward - although they want a 4 year commitment (all due up front)

Senator,
As a fellow Georgian, I'm sure you are familiar with the saying, "I'm so mad I could spit". Well, that's how myself, my family, circle of friends, co-workers, and everyone else I engage feels about the current situation in Washington, DC. However, you should feel very proud of yourself: Not one of these souls thinks you're the problem. In fact, we're very proud of our senators and we know you are doing everything in your power to not let the thousands of lobbyists and millions of influential dollars wreak havoc with our livelihood.
Not too long ago I wrote you regarding the outrageous economic stimulus bill (we spent our $1200 on the house we just bought, along with a new car to support our growing family), the Wall Street Bailout, and most importantly, the auto bailout. I'm sorry, but just these three pieces of spending which are HUGE one-offs account for more money than I can imagine. I really can't imagine that much money. Not many Georgians can. So how do you intend to rise above business as usual in the capitol and say, "We're spending more than we're bringing in"; anyone who feels comfortable with that needs to be shown in the worse light possible!"
I have yet to see where any federal program has had to undergo any sort of budget cuts. We've seen it here in Georgia with Gov. Perdue mandating education take a huge hit, with Mayor Franklin having to take a hard line on emergency services, but nothing from Washington. When will you take the position of, "something needs to be cut if we're going to go down this path?" From what I can tell, several programs needed to receive budget cuts even before we talked about new spending.
The people here in Georgia are tired of spending when there is no money to go around, seeing our hard earned dollars decrease in both value (lower interest rates) and buying power (higher inflation due to printing of new $$). We're tired of the media, lobbyists, and politicians skewing commonly used rhetoric like some backwards 1984 excerpt.
If you don't start speaking against the obvious nuances which over time cause people to become so disgusted with our government, then you will see the end of your party's and our government's relevance.

I had a crazy idea this morning while eating breakfast. I was reading the USA Today Op/Ed section, where I encountered an immigration debate. They were talking about the definitions of comprimises, and how because this issue is the new 3rd rail of politics, it won't get solved without some sort of concessions on both sides. So I came up with this as a comprimise: 1. Withdrawl 10-15k troops from Iraq and deploy them along the Mexican border. That's right, I want to militarize it until we get the damn thing secure. I'm not saying we shoot illegals, but I do believe we need to have a stronger presence there. (Comprimise for both sides here) 2. Build a wall. In some form. A whole wall, which will reduce the influx of illegals by at least 80%. We can tell it's working by a reduction in population grown in border towns. Whether it's the great wall of mexico, a swarm of big marines glad to be back in texas and in their dune buggies, drones, whatever. In 100-200 years, this may seem like a drastic measure, as we will have probably had a depression, which causes us to be on the same economic level with mexico, but it will still need to happen at present. (in 1000-2000 years, it will indeed be another great wall of china) 3. Grant Amnesty. After the wall is built, you redeploy the troops to the next hot spot, or god forbid some R&R. Illegals are given a M-Visa (for mexican obvoiusly), which in 8 years can be traded in for a green card. They will of course have to pay a fine, and yes it will be expensive. However, if the estimates of Illegals sending $40 Billion back home is accurate, then the fee to stay should be on par with curtailing that into savings to buy citizenship. I'm just saying they can afford it, especailly if families know it will take 6-8 years to build a wall, and at the end of that time they shoudl have $5-15k per immigrant saved up. So it's now 2:55 am PST. I just left the Portland Airport with assistance from my russian driver Andrey. I guess $250 isn't a bad price to have someone drive me in the middle of the night for 2.5 hours. I'm headed down to Springfield, OR. So today started off just great! I woke up at my sister-in-law's house, with my wife passed out on the couch. Not only did I wake up to smiling faces, loving family members, and what might be the comfiest recliner known to man, but they had gotten McDonald's! From there, we decided to play a few holes of Wii Golf ( Wii Sports). I highly recommend Wii Golf; it's not as complicated as super swing golf, and the multi player uses your Mii instead of some character which might have come from Final Fantasy. From there, my wife decided I needed to see Mount Trashmore. We brought in a kite from Atlanta, which we bought cheap. It's a boat. We had our doubts as to whether it would fly or not. We weren't able to get it up in the stratosphere, but it did manage to hover about 6-7 feet off the ground for a good bit. The rest of the time was spent running around with it, so it would take off. (Quite amusing for them, frustrating for the one doing the running) I love my beautiful wife. She got me on the plane to Portland and made sure we got to spend as much time as possible together. For that, I am truely grateful. She made my first trip as a husband start on a good note. But as fate would have it, it would continue to be a day of firsts, and not all of them as wonderful. My flight arrived in Atlanta, and all was well. This was my first layover in Atlanta. It was my First time being bumped to first class on a west coast trip. It was also the first time I've had to switch planes due to malfunctions, get a cab (towncar) from the airport to the hotel, and first time I've only gotten 2-3 hours of sleep before I had to be on site. I miss her already. She really knows how to take care of me, and I am truely grateful! Powered by ScribeFire. As someone who does not subscribe to the AJC, I do not read Jay Bookman's column. However, I have been reading some of his work after I reading Neal Boortz's blog.
I must congratulate him on actually reading and responding to his emails from readers. Such sincerity goes a long way these days. I am not going to launch into a FairTax tirade, as I am not a fairtax (or tax) zealot. Tax talk puts me to sleep.
But I wanted to point out a few things:
1. The term "fair tax" appears only 122 times on boortz.com. Unfortunately, the search engine on that site isn't very sophisticated.
But his point is valid; it is quite hypocritical for Neal Boortz to cite you on such a small detail.
2. I don't know if you have or have not read the book, and quite frankly, I don't care. I haven't read the book. I haven't read any of Boortz's books. I think if you listen to his program for more than a week or so, you begin to hear the same points and logic repeated. You can't do that with a column; you wouldn't be original.
However, the basic principle of the sales tax and other basic concepts of the FairTax must be understood thoroughly before writing intelligently about it; I do not feel you have done your due diligence.
3. The idea of the FairTax is appealing to me, because it would reduce the amount of corrupting influences on our political system. There are many other merits of the proposal, and I really want to see our representatives be challenged with this proposal.
4. I would attend a debate or at least watch it on YouTube (one word) to see such a topic discussed. Personally, it's of greater value to watch two non politicians actually have a well informed debate on an issue. The state of "debates" by politicians in today's elections are a joke. Why don't we just deport the illegal aliens that have been tried, convicted, and are actively using up valuable resources sitting in local, state, and federal jails?
It seems to me it would be much easier to get a 747, load up every illegal alien in jail, and send them packing to Philip S. W. Goldson International, the southern most airport in Mexico. From there, they could take a few short hops to Belieze, Guatemalla, Honduras, etc.
The math is simple: #illegal inmates/#seats on a 747 = how many flights you'd have to take.
If #flights*Cost per flight < cost of keeping #inmates in jail, then do it.
Local and state governments don't even have to get federal approval, because it would be their budgets, their inmates, and their planes. (I think. I could be wrong, and probably am.)
If you think about it, these people:
1. Are already separated from their families, and are not able to send money back home.
2. Are actively using the tax payer's money.
3. Are not working jobs that no other americans will work.
4. Have committed, been convicted, and been identified as Illegal
The list goes on.
Now I'm not saying Mexico is the only port of call for these illegals, but it is a case for the argument.

because I loko aroudn and I have no freakin' clue what all I have to get done, I'm going to make a to do list. the blog probably isn't the most effecient way to do this, but damnit I don't care. I don't post here very often and it's not like there's a shortage on blog space.
1. Clean the room

11. BPC - (either decide on which ideas to do [kayla's scrapbook, etc], or post that i am looking for a group)
12. APO - Figure out who I want to nominate for positions, and the points for/agains the people who are nominated; figure out if i want to be a part of the chapter next semester, and in what capacity; prepare for initiation, because it's going to be cold.
13. Work - (BSI - Portal, etc., RQM - Server, tax app, AHB - Other sundry items)

Okay, so this is a bit rediculous. I mean it's the same thing as video games influencing children, when all they really do is just give them something entertaining to do.
I understand where they are coming from by pulling this movie, as it demonstrates that they are concerned abou their patrons. But does this mean that they won't complain when they don't get a return on the $$ that they have invested? Does this mean that the 22-screen complex won't have half a plane fly through their parking lot as a result of seeing Sahara?
I mean, I'm not going to go see this movie because I don't really think that 50 cent has any business doing anything except rapping about his boys "up in da club" or being a completely polished and handled marketing tool.
All in all, if I do go see something at the movies, it needs to have more than a pretty boy rapper who can shoot folks. Hell, Gucci Mane didn't have the first part right and he wound up in jail before his record was released. Serves him right. You know he's going to be someone's bitch, because "Gucci Mane's Bitch" just sounds dumb.

Man today is a gray day. I mean, yes it's over cast and all that, but damn is today just crappy.
We're watching Anchorman. It's a truly morbidly random movie. I mean, it's funny, but today is a very crappy day so far. Kayla and I are sad, and I am just so damn confused because I can't figure out what to do about it.
I'm going to take a shower and try to not feel so damn sorry for myself. And perhaps Kayla and Imight even be able to talk without getting upset.
So freakin' down right now.

So I've been a good little boy lately. I haven't really indulged in the usual college drinking, fornecating, carefree lifestyle. I am not sure that I think that's a good thing, though.
What I have managed to do, though, is:
- get on top of my grades
- See Kayla a good bit
- Manage my finances (to an extent)
- work a good bit (and get some momentum going on the whole business model thing)
- Play with my gadgets
- Read a good book dilligently.
I must admit: I don't usually toot my own horn. And by toot my horn I mean get a big head. And by get a big head, well.... you figure it out. It feels good to have some small things to brag about. Granted, I'm not curing cancer, but I am learning more about the world and how I can really make some differences.
I went to www.ubuntu.com today to see about putting Linux on NCS's Compaq Armada m700. There I found a community of developers and an otherwise professional outcropping of the Opensource community. I signed up for my Launchpad account and then ordered my free CDs. I'm quite excited.
Also, I'm beginning to see the floor of my room; I didn't know my carpet was that color. It's the small things in life that really do the most sometimes. A few days ago, my HR professor was having a "no good very bad day" sort of day. We were walking towards the elevator, when it opened up like those cool doors in star trek! Not only that, but when we got in the elevator, the 1st floor button had already been pushed. It's not that big of deal, but when it happens, you feel really cool.
That's all for me right now. I'm going to make it a point to ramble on about pointless crap for a good few paragraphs, every now and again.
